One Platform, more water: Ugandan Water Project harnesses data to help end the Ugandan Water Crisis.
See how SFDC Xperts increase transparency and collaboration to help UWP provide more clean drinking water.
Vision and Mission
The Ugandan Water Project exists to see Uganda as a nation liberated from the bondage of water-borne disease and poverty as communities leverage the transformative power of clean water to empower all people to live the lives they were created for.

They help donors end Uganda’s water crisis once and for all by building infrastructure that relieves immediate water insecurity today, developing sustainable enterprises that keep clean water flowing tomorrow, and then advocating for national systems that ensure it stays that way forever.
With SFDC Xperts, the Ugandan Water Project centralized data from 5 different sources onto one platform to increase financial transparency, improve collaboration across the organization and ultimately provide more clean drinking water to Ugandans.
Challenge
In times of economic uncertainty, nonprofits are held to greater transparency and accountability standards by their boards, donors, and the public. But these times are also when nonprofits are needed most, making data-driven decisions more imperative than ever. With SFDC Xperts, UWP has a single, real-time view of all donor activities across the organization, so it can track important metrics to drive its mission forward, like how frequently donors contribute, and donor demographics.
As a non-profit organization, half of UWP's funding comes from grassroots donations, and the other half comes from grants, large donors, and partnerships. The UWP Development Team could not see real-time contribution data in Salesforce, their CRM and reporting platform.
Before SFDC Xperts donations were siloed separately in a multi-system and multi-step processing stack of third-party vendors including Give Lively (website donation), Stripe (invoicing/payment), Zapier (metadata), and Salesforce (new records), many of which included manual entry leaving room for error and data delay.
Solution
Automating the donation process provided significant benefits for the team and their efforts. UWP partnered with SFDC Xperts and their team of developers to integrate and optimize their systems and increase efficiency among the organization's resources.
The solution is a fully automated donation process that eliminates manual entry and time delay of donation visibility and allows for cleaner data, more accurate reports, and transparency for the organization through custom dashboards in Salesforce.
Results
The partnership between UWP and SFDC Xperts successfully addressed UWP’s challenge of automating the donation process and integrating the various systems to maintain the integrity of their data. The result allows UWP to focus on the reason they exist, which is to end Uganda’s water crisis once and for all by building infrastructure that relieves immediate water insecurity today, developing sustainable enterprises that keep clean water flowing tomorrow, and then advocating for national systems that ensure it stays that way forever.
